From a single bar known for its live jazz at Boat Quay, Harry's is probably the largest bar chain in Singapore.  It has some 31 outlets and more recently expanded beyond the CBD to Dempsey Hill, Sixth Avenue, Serangoon Garden, and even Tampines!

Its CEO Mohan Mulani (and long time FCA member) is launching his first book - about the circumstances that led him to be a shareholder of Harry's Bar (the founder was Jim Gelpi - an oilman from Louisiana who was the first in Singapore to set up a live jazz bar back in 1992).  The book also gives some insight into Mohan's family background, as well as the events surrounding his near bankruptcy after the outbreak of the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997.

It's quite obvious that this story has a very good ending.  Mohan has grown the Harry's brand into a chain of bars and restaurants.  From an OTC listing, he plans to take the Company for a Catalist listing soon, which will also see its bars expanding into the region.  Next month, Harry's first boutique hotel will open on Ann Siang Hill.
