JB Jeyaretnam made political history in 1981 when he became the first opposition politician elected to Singapore's parliament. His subsequent banishment from Parliament has been well documented, not least in his own book, The Hatchet Man of Singapore.

After being discharged from bankruptcy last year, the 84-year old resumed his legal practice and having lost none of his enthusiasm for politics he has just set up the Reform Party.

At a time, when Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew is again telling Singaporeans that putting the opposition at the helm of the country could quickly ruin the country, what can the Reform Party do to be seen as a credible option and what hope does it really have of making a political impact in Singapore?

This will be an informal on-the-record lunch.

As we are trying out a new restaurant venue. please register EARLY so we know how large a room we need to book.
