FCA journalists are invited to join in a special embargoed Press Briefing prior to the launch of The Future Readiness Indicator: Winning and Losing Companies of the Future.

The pandemic has sped up e-commerce, flex-work, and other secular trends. Companies that are more resilient during the crisis have scaled new capabilities ahead of time. For example, Nike has sped up their direct-to-consumer model faster than others. Mastercard is capitalizing on the rising demand for mobile payment and mobile services. And Tesla's market valuation took off.

But what exactly do the future-ready leading companies do? And how have they scaled those capabilities that matter the most from now on?

Studying corporate behaviour trends through a decade of data (2010 to 2020), The Future Readiness Indicator measures the corporate world's preparedness for the future. It ranks the 86 richest public- listed companies against their capacity to navigate the reality of a world of fast and frequent change. In simple terms, it measures a company's resilience.

From Nike to Google to Tesla, underpinned by predictive analytics, the Indicator ranks the highest-grossing industries: Retail, Automotive, Finance and Technology against their competitors by how future-ready they are for the post-pandemic economy. What we learn is how each industry is changing drastically but at a different pace. Drawing lessons from the past and the COVID -19 induced economic hit - the analysis offers lessons to better equip executives as they take on 2022 and beyond with tools to not just survive, but thrive over the next 10 years and weather the next crises - such as Omicron.

The launch of The Future Readiness Indicator is on 15 Dec 2021 at 1:30pm, but FCA journalists are invited to attend a special online embargoed press briefing the day before, helmed by the author of the report, Professor Howard Yu, who leads the center for Future Readiness at IMD Business School, Switzerland.
